Hopi Ear Candling FAQs
Is Hopi Ear Candling suitable for me?

Most people can benefit from a Hopi Ear Candle treatment, especially if you suffer from a lot of earwax or sinus problems. However, I cannot practise this treatment on you if you have inflammation of the ear, have an ear infection, a perforated eardrum or if you have grommets fitted. You will also need to tell me prior to treatment if you have had surgery on either of your ears or suffer from any allergies, as the candles may not be suitable for you.
Is Hopi Ear Candling suitable for my child?

Children can also benefit from Hopi Ear Candling but again, the treatment cannot be performed on anyone suffering from inflammation or infection of the ear, if your child has grommets, drains or a ventilation tube fitted or has had any other kind of surgery on the ears in the past 3 months.
What can I expect from a Hopi Ear Candle treatment?

First of all, we will have a discussion and I will make brief notes of your medical history and any other factors affecting your well-being.  Then, I will ask you to lay fully clothed on your side on the treatment couch.  I will gently place the candle in your ear and light it to start the cleansing and rebalancing process. Don’t worry, no wax will drip and I only use candles that don’t drop ash. The candles also have an internal filter to ensure no residue or wax enters the ear. Once the candle has burned down to a specific mark, it will be extinguished in water and we will repeat the process in your other ear. Each candle takes between 10 to 20 minutes to complete its cleansing and rebalancing process. I complete your treatment with a light facial massage that helps the lymphatic system drain, your sinuses rebalance and stimulates blood flow followed by a short period of relaxation. The treatment takes around 45 to 60 minutes but it is particularly effective when combined with an additional CST therapy, taking the whole session to around 90 minutes. Prior to treatment, I recommend putting a couple of drops of olive oil into each ear over a few days to help loosen any compacted earwax.
Can I combine Hopi Ear Candling with other treatments?

Yes. I can combine Hopi Ear Candling with any of the other treatments I practise, but I find it is particularly effective when combined with Craniosacral Therapy. However, this will depend on what works for you!
Are there any side effects from Hopi Ear Candling?

Some people do experience headaches or a light popping in the ears after treatment as your upper respiratory tract and sinuses rebalance, which is normal. After treatment it’s a good idea to wear a hat and scarf or something to cover the ears to protect you from the cold.

I used to suffer from a build up of earwax and would do anything to avoid syringing, which I hated! It led me to find out more about Hopi Ear Candling and I’ve been a devotee ever since. I’ve also been particularly impressed with the results my clients have experienced with vertigo and dizziness.
